Osteopathy is a holistic approach to health and well-being which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of impaired movement. Osteopaths maintain that impaired movement between the bodies tissues (facia, muscle, bones etc.) results in impaired function and leads to illness and injury.
Osteopathy has been found to resolve a multitude of patient symptoms. We use a wide range of manual therapy techniques as well as joint mobilization/manipulation. We may also use adjunctive therapies such as acupuncture. This breadth of approach allows us to focus on every patient’s precise needs. We treat people of any age from the elderly to the newborn and from pregnant women to sports people.
Here are some of the range of techniques you may experience during the treatment:
- Neuromuscular Techniques

- Massage
- Joint mobilization and manipulation
- Posture and Movement Education
- Medical Acupuncture “Dry Needling”
- Cranial techniques referred to as ‘cranial osteopathy’
- Visceral Technique referred to as ‘visceral osteopathy’
- Passive/Active Stretching
Motion is the fundamental law of life. The Body and every part of it, is in constant motion. This motion is not haphazard; every part of the body is, or should be, in constant rhythmic interplay, either directly or indirectly with every other part of the body. It is the disturbance of this rhythmic balance between the bodily structures and systems that causes disease.
– Dr John Martin Littlejohn, Osteopath (1865 – 1947)
